Krista L. Shoquist joined Dhillon & Smith in 2009. She received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School, where she was an active member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and the Moot Court Honor Society. Ms. Shoquist was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Evidence and Fundamentals of Legal Drafting.
While in law school, Ms. Shoquist was a judicial extern for the Honorable Elizabeth D. Laporte of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. She also actively participated in her school’s Legal Services department through the Safe Harbor Project, where she assisted refugees in all stages of obtaining asylum.
During her time at Dhillon & Smith, Ms. Shoquist has represented clients in intellectual property and trademark disputes, partnership law issues, corporate governance matters, and anti-SLAPP (strategic lawsuit against public participation) and other First Amendment litigation. In addition, Ms. Shoquist has been actively involved in providing pro bono civil rights litigation services to redress a government agency’s religious discrimination against the firm’s client in an employment context.
Prior to joining Dhillon & Smith, Ms. Shoquist worked as a volunteer attorney for the Homeless Advocacy Project within the Volunteer Legal Services Program of the Bar Association of San Francisco, where she provided direct counsel to clients and advocated on their behalf to obtain supportive housing.
Ms. Shoquist is admitted to practice in the states of New York and California and is proficient in French.
